Keasbey Scholarship
Middlebury is not eligible for a Keasbey nomination until the spring 2024 deadline. Students graduating in February or May 2025 are eligible to apply.
Purpose
To promote Anglo-American relations; to provide Americans with an opportunity to study in the British university system at the following institutions:
- Oxford
- Cambridge
- University of Edinburgh
- University College of Wales at Aberystwyth
Award
Support for one or two years of study (a second BA degree, MPhil or MSt) at selected institutions (listed above). Direct payment to the institution involved to cover tuition and other fixed charges; a cost-of-living stipend paid to the Scholar to cover board, lodging, and general subsistence; an allowance for travel between the United States and Great Britain. Living stipend commensurate with Rhodes Scholar stipend.
Number Offered
Middlebury is invited to submit up to two nominations, in a three-year cycle. Two Keasbey Scholars selected annually.
Fields of Study
Unspecified; limited only by the offerings at the universities involved.
Eligibility
Seniors (graduating in February or May) with a 3.7 or higher GPA who are U.S. citizens and unmarried. The successful candidates will demonstrate academic excellence, active participation in extracurricular activities, leadership abilities, and personal promise. Keasbey scholarships may not be deferred, and candidates for the Keasbey may not hold another graduate-level scholarship or grant.
Deadlines
Nomination application deadline is in April. Final application deadline is in November. Interviews generally take place in December in Philadelphia.

Selected nominees must prepare these application materials. Note that there is no specified essay length, but approximately 1000 words or between 2-3.5 pages is acceptable.
