As an institution, we value inclusive teaching, but what practices make you an inclusive teacher? Join us for a professional development workshop and take a deep dive into inclusive teaching practices while your experiences in the classroom are fresh in your mind.   After having lunch together, Dr. Kelly Hogan and Dr. Viji Sathy, authors of Inclusive Teaching Strategies for Promoting Equity in the College Classroom, will join us virtually to lead a workshop on inclusive teaching practices. Following the presentation, there will be a multi-institutional discussion about implementing these practices in our classrooms, considering topics such as how they can cause a net reduction of stress and gains in time and energy for a more rewarding classroom experience for both students and teachers. The event will conclude with a panel featuring faculty and staff who support many facets of student life at Middlebury College to help participants understand the nature and impact of the barriers our students face.  While faculty and staff from all disciplines are welcome to attend this DEI development workshop, it is organized by STEM Pedagogy and sponsored by the HHMI Inclusive Excellence Grant. The first 30 registrants will receive a copy of the speakers’ book and a custom Yeti tumbler. Please include any food preferences, sensitivities, or allergies in the comments section of the registration.

    Date: Saturday, June 1, 2024
    Time: All Day Event
