A playwright and theater director, Esther was born in Havana, Cuba. She studied Psychology at the University of Havana, and then Theater at the University of the Arts, also in Havana, where she received a Master’s degree in Scenic Arts. At the University of the Arts, she worked as a professor in the Theater and Media Arts Schools until 2000, when she moved to Los Angeles, California. For over 20 years, she taught language, literature, culture, and drama at Claremont McKenna College. She retired in 2023 and now lives in a town in Northern Italy, near Milan. Esther has been a Faculty member at the Escuela de Español since 2007.
