Pianist Stefan Rütter is on the faculty at the Musikhochschule Köln where he works as a collaborative pianist and vocal coach for opera, art song, and oratorio. He received his musical training at the Musikhochschule Köln and studied musicology, dramatics, and philosophy at the Universität Köln. A regular collaborator with the WDR Rundfunkchor, Mr. Rütter also works as an accompanist at international master classes and vocal competitions such as the “Accademia Internazionale Estiva di Cervo” and the “Internationaler Gesangswettbewerb Köln”. As a solo accompanist, he has performed with KS Edda Moser and Anja Harteros, among others, and he is a regular accompanist for the ZAV Köln. A prolific author, Mr. Rütter has published extensively in newspapers, through radio features, and in books, with a special thematic emphasis on opera. Mr. Rütter has been on the faculty at Middlebury’s “German for Singers and Vocal Coaches” since 2011.
