Stephan Boving studied voice at the Musikhochschule Köln where he was a student of KS Edda Moser and Reinhard Leisenheimer; in addition, he attended numerous master classes, most notably with KS Kurt Moll and Prof. Klesie Kelly.

In 2000, he joined the ensemble at the opera in Detmold; he later became a member of the ensembles at the opera houses in Wuppertal and, subsequently, Dortmund. A sought-after “Spiel- und Charaktertenor,” Mr. Boving has sung at the opera in Köln, the Staatstheater Hannover, the Aalto Theater Essen, in Karlsruhe, Basel and at many more houses. He was a member of the ensemble at the Komische Oper Berlin from 2012 to 2014 and has since launched a successful freelance career, singing all over Germany.

Mr. Boving is also very active as a recitalist and has worked with the Kölner Philharmonie, the Tonhalle Zürich, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden as well as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées Paris. His discography includes recordings with the WDR Köln.

In addition to pursuing a busy performance schedule, Mr. Boving joined the voice faculty at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold in fall 2015.
