"The Fourth Window"

The School of Hebrew is hosting a screening of the film “The Fourth Window”, about the late Israeli writer Amos Oz. The movie director, Yair Qedar, will give a lecture before the screening at Dana Auditorium (Middlebury College campus). After the screening, Mr. Qedar will lead a panel discussion.


School of Spanish Piano Concert  

8:15 p.m. EDT

School of Spanish choir director, professor and pianist Paco Álvarez, will offer a piano recital in the Middlebury Chapel. Thirty years have passed since Paco performed for the first time at Middlebury College. The concert repertoire will include works by the three great Spanish nationalist composers: Isaac Albeniz, Enrique Granados and Manuel de Falla. A date not to be missed!


Traditional Korean Gayageum Ensemble  

4:30 p.m. EDT

An Ensemble of traditional Korean musicians will perform at Dana Auditorium (Middlebury College campus). The Ensemble, Chunhogarang, consists of three gayageum players and will share rare performances of beautiful Korean traditional music. The gayageum is a traditional Korean zither-like instrument with 12-24 strings. The group also plays yanggeum (lute), janggu (drum) and Daegeum (bamboo flute).

School of French Music Recital  

8:00-9:15 p.m. EDT

School of French music director and pianist, Clementine Dubost, leads professional and talented amateur musicians in a performance of varied musical styles. The concert in the Middlebury Chapel may include instrumental and vocal performers, often accompanied by Clementine on piano. A must-hear annual event!

Mikael Owunna Photo Exhibit

The School of French proudly presents an exhibition by esteemed alumnus, Mikael Owunna (2018), titled “Infinite Essence.” The opening reception will be held on August 8, and the exhibit will run until August 18 in the Davis Family Library Atrium. The inception of “Infinite Essence” traces back to Owunna’s deep exploration of indigenous African knowledge systems. His goal was to craft a unique visual style that encapsulates the majestic cosmos, intricate symbolism, and the portrayal of Blackness as the divine, cosmic origin from which all existence blooms.


German for Singers Opera

Please join the German for Singer’s Program at Seeler Theater in the Mahaney Arts Center (MAC) or live-streamed for “Figaro’s Hochzeit”. The German for Singers Program will be celebrating their 25th summer, and will travel to Scharbeutz, Germany after Language Schools to perform. Event in German.


German School Play - "Mutter Vater Land"

In this contemporary play, Akın Emanuel Şipal presents a “tapestry” of scenes depicting 100 years of German-Turkish relations, through the lens of a Turkish-German family. Location: Wright Memorial Theater (Middlebury College Campus)


School of Spanish Choir Concert  

8:15 p.m. EDT

Join us in the Middlebury Chapel for the School of Spanish choir, conducted by Paco Alvarez, and with the participation of students of all levels, for the end-of-summer concert. The repertoire includes works in Spanish and in other languages spoken in the Spanish-speaking world as a way of showcasing its cultural richness and variety.
