Middlebury College Orchestra Auditions 2019

Open Reading Session

Our first open reading session is on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 7pm in the Robison Hall, Mahaney Center for the Arts.  Everyone is welcome!  Please come with your instrument regardless of whether you have auditioned yet or not.

Membership in the MCO is by audition and is required for all new and returning members once a year. If you are a returning member and played in the November 2018 concert, you do not need to re-audition. Auditions help determine repertoire, seating within sections, how many students the can be accepted (this is important for sections that can have too many players for the available parts), and potential seating rotations.  Where possible, seating will rotate within all sections of the orchestra.

Auditions are simple, informal, and are meant to convey your musical strengths.  They last about 6 minutes.  All musicians should prepare brief excerpts of two contrasting pieces or movements that showcase your musical and technical abilities (usually one lyrical/slow and one technical/fast style excerpt).  You will also be asked to perform a short sight-reading excerpt.  And relax: no scales.

Sunday 2/17

7:00-9:00pm Robison Hall, Mahaney Arts Center
