MiddView Trips

Orientation trips for students new to Middlebury College, known as MiddView Trips, are a long standing and beloved tradition here. Trips occur at the end of MiddView (which is our name for orientation week) and are designed to further welcome you to campus, foster connections among new classmates, and ease your concerns of beginning college.

All trips are free, and every new student participates!

After spending four days on campus getting oriented, all students depart for some time together off campus, led and supported by our remarkable student leaders as you work in small groups toward shared trip goals.

  • First Year Students spend three days and two nights in the field. Although many MiddView trips combine two or more of the following aspects, each trip has one of the following as its main focus: Community Engagement, Vermont Exploration, or Outdoor Exploration. During the trip registration process, you will be asked to indicate which four trips out of all the options you prefer. Orientation staff will then assign you to one of those trips. We will send out trip assignments in July. First Year Students, click here to see our trip offerings for 2019.

  • Transfer and Exchange Students participate in day trips, with one optional camping trip, during the course of the weekend. We will share T&E day trip itineraries during your on campus orientation in September. Transfer and Exchange Students, read more about your trips here.

  • Trip Assignments for Fall Orientation 2019 will be posted here when they are ready, sorted by last name.
