Media Services Roadmap
Our goal in ITS is to limit classroom downtime. We use the following methods to help us do this:
- We have shifted to laser projectors in standard classrooms, which means the projectors are no longer limited by lamp hours nor require bulb changes. (In the larger spaces we are still using projectors with limited bulb life.)
- Use of a monitoring system that gives us a clear snapshot of how each room is used and how many hours per year the system in each space is operated.
- Use of network monitors that tell us when devices go offline. They provide valuable warnings that something may be occurring.
ITS operates on 5 and 10 year cycles to refresh and upgrade classrooms.
We are still experience significant product wait times. Product order in July has ETA arrival dates of March. Thus only allowing us to upgrade with what product we do receive.
The 5 year cycle is for items such as projectors (for smaller classrooms), switchers, Blu-rays and Apple TV’s, network switches, and other smaller cost items depending on room layouts.
The 10 year cycle is used for larger spaces that require more expensive projectors, as well as the touch panels and microphones in the larger teaching spaces.
