Slideshow

To add a slideshow to your page, in the components tab you will first select “Add Slideshow” toward the bottom of the page.

Content > Media

When you select “Add Slideshow” you will be given an opportunity to give your slideshow a title.

Content > Media

Next, you will have the opportunity to add “New Media” or “Existing Media”.

“New Media” is a file you have on your computer or another location you will need to upload to the site. “Existing Media” is a file you have already saved to the website and can find with the media files on the site.

You can learn how to upload images on this page.

You will be prompted to name your photo and add Alternative text. Alt text is text that describes the image. Sometimes, web pages cannot load an image, or a visitor is using assistive technology (such as a screen reader) to read the website. Alt text is needed to describe the image in these cases and will show up instead of the photo. Alt text also helps search engines understand what an image is about. For tips on adding effective alt text, see tips here on this page.

You may also give your image a caption and/or photo credit, though these are not required fields.

Please note, if you select existing media any caption information added to the image will also display in the slideshow. If you’d like to add or edit a caption to your image, you will need to do it in the slideshow.

Content > Media

Next, select “Create New Media”.

To add the next slide to your slideshow, again select “New Media” or “Existing Media”. After that, the process will be the same for your next image.

You may continue adding images until your slideshow is complete.

If you choose to select several images from existing media, you will select the check box next to each image, then select the blue “Select Images” button:

Content > Media

Select “Save” to save and view your slideshow.

Your slideshow will look like the image below. Note the slideshow name appears in the upper left, the caption appears under the image and an arrow at the bottom right indicates how many images are in the slideshow and allows users to slide through them.

Content > Media

If you would like to change the order in which your photos show in the slideshow, you can do so easily.

As you can see, the current slideshow has four images in this order:

  • Strawberry
  • Peaches
  • Banana
  • Watermelon

Content > Media

You can change the order by selecting the four arrow symbol to the left of the name of your photo and drag and drop it where you’d like.

Now, the order is

  • Peaches
  • Strawberry
  • Banana
  • Watermelon

Content > Media

Be sure to save your changes once you update the order.
