Description

This funding helps students with the cost of presenting papers, participating on panels, or otherwise taking an active part in the program at academic conferences. Please note: We do not fund participation or presentations at conferences that are not clearly academic or participation in seminars or programs, courses or classes. If you have questions, please contact us. In all cases, there must be a strong connection to a student’s major or minor academic program of study. ATF funds are limited; once fully allocated for a given semester, we will not be able to fund additional applications for that semester.

Deadline: 30 days prior to the conference or travel start date. Because of funding limitations, late applications will not be considered.

Apply

To apply for ATF funding, complete the online application in MiddApply. Contact ur@middlebury.edu with any questions or application difficulties.

Carefully review the travel page for details about types of travel expenses before submitting your budget. UR Budget Template

Reimbursement

If the proposal is approved, reimbursements for expenses incurred require scanned or e-receipts and a brief summary about your experience. This needs to be submitted within two weeks of participation. To get reimbursed, return to your current application in the MiddApply portal and complete the reimbursement task. Most ATF funds are dispersed through reimbursement; If you need assistance with direct charges, please talk with us. Reimbursements take 2-3 weeks to receive payment.

ATF Maximum Grant Amounts

Students presenting papers, posters, or in another similar way actively sharing their work in a conference program are eligible for grants of up to the maximum amount of $1,000. Students who wish to attend a conference, but not present work, may receive grants of up to $350. Only one application per student per academic year will be funded. Available funding will be divided between the fall and J-term/spring semesters for awards.
