School in Spain: Kim Griffin
October 19, 2011
Many alumni immediately think of Kim Griffin when they are reminded of the School in Spain. This year, Kim is on sabbatical working on projects involving foreign language acquisition for the Universidad de Comillas in Cantabria, Spain. Roberto Véguez is serving as the acting director in her absence. Kim has held almost every possible role related to the School in Spain and knows it from many perspectives. She was a student and received her MA in 1981, served as the assistant director, and has been the director since 1996. She is also an associate professor. She received her PhD from The Ohio State University in foreign language education and has taught many courses at universities in Spain and the United States. Kim has always been present at the annual gathering in New York City, greeting alumni of the program. Phoebe Knowles, an alumna of the School in Spain, has generously hosted this event at the Roger Smith Hotel. We hope to see many of you at this gathering in the future so you can catch up with Kim, other staff, and your colleagues from the program. Stay tuned for information in our spring edition.
