Vardit Ringvald Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Vardit Ringvald gives an acceptance speech for the Lifetime Achievement award at the NAHeT Conference in November. The conference, "Hebrew: Legacy of Innovation," was sponsored by the Council for Hebrew Language and Culture in North America and the World Zionist Organization.

Yael Gaulan Co-Authors Hebrew Textbook for Refugees and Work Migrants

School of Hebrew faculty member, Yael Gaulan, takes part in an interview discussing the importance of making Hebrew language classes available to everyone in Israel, including work migrants and refugees. Gaulan recently co-authored a textbook specifically designed for these communities. Listen to the interview here.

10 Years of Hebrew

The School of Hebrew is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this summer. Click here to read about the remarkable growth of the last ten years.

“The School of Hebrew, under the visionary leadership of Vardit Ringvald, is fulfilling its mission to professionalize the teaching of Hebrew as a world language,” said Professor Stephen Snyder, Dean of the Language Schools. “The School’s growth is particularly impressive in light of the decreases in undergraduate enrollments in Modern Hebrew and across all languages over the past 10 years.”

Middlebury Language Schools' Dean, Stephen Snyder, and SoH Director, Vardit Ringvald, were interviewed in a CNN article exploring how watching television in the target language can enhance language acquistion. 


Israeli journalist and Middlebury faculty member, Tzach Yoked, published an article in an Israeli newspaper this summer which featured the unique immersion environment of the School of Hebrew.

School of Hebrew Online Classes for Alumni

Middlebury faculty member Guy Antebi teaches hour-long online Hebrew classes twice a month for School of Hebrew alumni. The class program topics include Expressive Arts, Effective Integration of Language Learning Resources Through Web Technology, How to Learn a Language, Cultural Aspects of Israel, Politics and Current Events, Refresher on Daily Life Situations and more.
