Maryait Khader is an Arabic language educator with over 11 years of teaching experience. Before joining Middlebury College in 2023, she taught at Qasid Institute in Amman, Jordan, where she also served as Intermediate Level Coordinator and Cultural Immersion Program Coordinator. Her work included supporting instructors, monitoring student progress, training new teachers, and developing cultural immersion programs.

At Middlebury, Khader teaches beginning through advanced Arabic, as well as fourth-year seminars exploring displacement in Arabic literature. Her teaching connects language learning with literature, media, and cultural engagement through creative projects, community activities, and interactions with Arabic-speaking guests.

Khader holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Arabic Language and Literature from the University of Jordan, where her graduate research examined the discourse of displacement in Arabic literature. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Education at the University of Vermont. Her academic interests include Arabic language pedagogy, displacement literature, and the relationship between language, identity, and education.
