Why did you choose to attend Middlebury?

While I was in my second year at UWC Mostar, there was a mini college fair with representatives from the major Davis schools. At the time, making a decision about where to apply for college seemed the most daunting. But, I talked with Karen Bartlett briefly about Middlebury and what it had to offer. We talked about some of the studio art courses, the campus, what the international students’ community is like, etc. And just like that, I began researching about Middlebury College – discovering its vast study abroad programs, languages, international focus politics classes and so much more. It seemed like the perfect place to be! After hearing about the ranging extracurricular activities and snowy winters, I was beyond excited to experience life here.

Favorite thing to do during J-Term?

Skiing is so fun! In my first J-Term I took lessons and had the best time learning how to ski (while also falling plenty of times in the snow). It was pretty challenging too, but it was a great way to physically challenge myself, spend time with my friends and also meet new people.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self during the college search/application process?

I would definitely reassure myself that everything would eventually be okay and that I would find myself somewhere with so many things to see, do, and so many people to meet. While the process of finding the “right” school seems immensely stressful, I would let myself know that I have so many stories to share, things to do and learn. Take your time, you’ll do amazing.
