Hellooo! I’m Carlos Alvarado and I’m from Houston, Texas! During my time here, I am studying Gender, Sexuality, Feminist Studies and Psychology leading into the Pre-Law Track into becoming a Defense Attorney! In my time outside of work and school, I am an active Co-Director for Student Government Association prioritizing the student body’s Mental Health on campus. I also work with my other Co-Directors to improve Physical Health and Sexual Respect between students on campus. I also help focus on Student Rights on campus and make sure that everyone is represented equally. I love to find new food spots and hangout with friends in my room! You can possibly find me in my room eating buldak or in meetings!

What’s your favorite course you’ve taken at Middlebury?

Gender-Based Violence and Health

What were you doing prior to applying to college?

Fighting for student rights and student access at the Texas Capitol!

Why did you choose to attend Middlebury?

While being in high school, I was a part of a variety of extracurricular activities, primarily Army JROTC and HISD Student Congress. During my last two years of high school, I decided I wanted to do more than stay in-state and experience a new beginning. I applied to a vast variety of colleges and universities from Texas to Vermont and finally set my heart on Middlebury College for the snow and the education. I had a drastic major change, going from Political Science and Biology double major to being a Psychology and Gender, Sexuality, Feminist Studies double major! Middlebury offering student-led organizations, Student Government Association, and unique courses pushed me to be a better student leader and student rights activist.

Choosing Middlebury is basically choosing the life that I want to live shamelessly and uniquely to be able to succeed after college!
