Hi! My name is Brianna, and I am a proud Guatemalan and Salvadoran American, first-generation student from Trenton, New Jersey. I intend to major in Neuroscience and minor in Global Health on the Pre-Med track. One of my favorite activities at Middlebury so far is volunteering at the Open Door Clinic and Porter Services as a Spanish Medical Interpreter. If you are interested in learning more about what support first-generation and Pre-Med/Healthcare students receive at Middlebury, I am more than happy to talk! If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out too.
Favorite place in town?
My favorite place in town is Haymaker! I love going there to drink cinnamon bun lattes and eat avocado toast for brunch. It’s a beautiful place to study, to do assignments, and to spend time with your friends!
Any tips for incoming students to help them make the most out of their Middlebury experience?
My best advice would be to take advantage of all the resources available to you and involve yourself within the community! There are always many events happening on campus where you can meet new people and hear of upcoming opportunities. Don’t be afraid to try out a new club or a new club sport; there will always be a space where you can immerse yourself in something new.
Why did you choose to attend Middlebury?
I chose to attend Middlebury because I wanted to immerse myself in a new environment and knit-tight community. Growing up in an urban environment, I rarely had the opportunity to explore the mountains and what nature had to offer. Additionally, Middlebury’s strong language program is another factor that drew me. I was very interested in learning French and am happy to say that I am now in an intermediate French course!
