Hello everyone! My name is Juli, and I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I learned about Middlebury College through a college scholarship program that I received. During the scholarship application process, I remember attending a panel with Middlebury students who shared how Middlebury offers vast opportunities to study a myriad of languages and then immerse in its expansive study abroad program(s). After hearing of these opportunities, I knew Middlebury was the right school for me!
I am majoring in International and Global Studies with a concentration in Migration and Diaspora Studies, and minoring in Political Science and Portuguese. On campus, I am actively a part of Compas, an organization where I have the opportunity to build relationships with the migrant community in Vermont and guide them on their English learning journey. I love how Middlebury allows me to volunteer and uplift the community while pursuing my academic endeavors and preparing for my postgraduate future.
Why did you choose to attend Middlebury?
As a first-generation college student interested in pursuing a career in international diplomacy, I knew I wanted to attend a school that had the resources to acclimate to an environment far away from home and to study foreign languages and then study abroad. After discovering Middlebury’s immersive language experience and study abroad programs, I decided to become a Middlebury undergraduate student!
Where did you study abroad?
I had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in the Fall 2024 at the Middlebury School in Niteroi, Brazil.
Where do you hope to be in five years?
In five years, I hope to be stationed in a foreign country representing the United States as a Foreign Service Officer, engaging in intercultural dialogue and creating an equitable world through diplomatic negotiations.
