Tell us about your Febmester! I spent my Febmester in Paris learning French with CIEE or the Council on International Education Exchange French Language and Literature program. I lived with a host family in the center of the city and took French courses at the Alliance Française.
Favorite study spot? The comfortable chairs downstairs in Axinn, next to the windows overlooking the courtyard. It strikes the perfect balance: enough to focus without feeling isolated, with plenty of natural light.
Favorite food in the dining hall? I can’t resist anything that contains peanut butter so of course, Proctor’s peanut butter no bake bars!
Favorite Vermont spot: Crossmolina Farm in Corinth, especially during their weekly summer pizza nights.
Favorite academic experience: Vermont Government and Politics, a J-term class taught by former Vermont Governor Jim Douglas, was perfectly suited to my interests as both a Vermonter and a Political Science major, so it was right up my alley!
Where did you study abroad? I studied abroad at the Middlebury School in Yaoundé, Cameroon during the fall of my junior Feb year. I spent the spring in Washington DC, where I interned with my senator from Vermont, Peter Welch, while attending American University’s Washington Semester program. Having spent my entire life in Vermont, it was incredibly enriching to receive education in different contexts in two very different capital cities.
Why did you choose to attend Middlebury? I chose Middlebury because I wanted to study political science in Vermont, where I could stay engaged in the state’s political scene, while also taking advantage of the incredible opportunities Middlebury offers. I’m also a big believer in getting involved in the community you’re part of, and attending school here has allowed me to continue to give back to my home state that has given me so much.
