McLean Macionis is a forward-thinking composer, producer, and educator whose solo and collaborative works live at the intersection of music, engineering, and the human experience.
A recent addition to the northeast, McLean previously lived in California where he worked as a composer for network television shows including Top Chef, The Real Housewives, Paris In Love, Fast Foodies, 911 Crisis Center, and many more. He also produced an original track for the feature film Ripped starring Russell Peters. In addition to composing, McLean worked as a performance artist and sound designer—performing at REDCAT Theater as a member of the CalArts’ Machine Orchestra and producing the sound design for The Broad Museum’s interdisciplinary production Gifts of the Spirit.
McLean graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Music Technology from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) where he later taught courses in interface design and mechatronic sound art. He is the author of two published papers in the Proceedings of the International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression, both of which describe original research in the field of music technology. McLean currently writes music for network television shows, releases music under the moniker Alighted and as one half of the electronic music duo NMND, and operates a record label called Garden Broom Recordings.
