I decided to apply for the Middlebury School of Hebrew during my senior year of high school because I wanted to start learning a new language. But, having embraced the challenges and rewards of immersion learning, I have also come away with some great friends and memories.

When I arrived on campus in late June, I had absolutely no Hebrew, and frankly I didn’t see how I could learn that much in only three weeks. But, right from the start, there was an immediate sense of community present. Despite vast differences in age, ethnicity, and level of education, everyone found common ground in that we were all there to learn something new.

The Language Pledge® is truly an incredible asset, because it creates a learning environment that is not only highly focused but also filled with joy.

From the first day of class until the last, although the workload was often intense, there was always positivity in the classroom.

I really feel lucky to have been able to take part in the 2024 Middlebury School of Hebrew program. It has enriched me both socially and intellectually, and I hope to come back in the future.
