Internship for Master in Applied Languages in French student
Caroline Finken, Master in Applied Languages in French student, completed a summer practicum as a conservation intern at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte in Maincy, France, thanks to the Middlebury School in France’s collaboration with the French Cultural Heritage Society.
Caroline uncovered and digitized treasures from the Sommier family archives, and helped to conserve bronzes, porcelains, and antique furniture.
Caroline earned an MA in Applied Languages in Cultural Heritage Studies in August 2025. She began her master’s studies with a 6-week summer in Vermont at the Middlebury Language Schools and completed her degree with an academic year in Paris at the Middlebury School in France, where she was enrolled in graduate-level art history courses at La Sorbonne.
During the academic year in Paris, students in the MA in Applied Languages program are required to complete an academically directed practicum (a minimum of 130 hours) in their area of specialization. In addition to Caroline’s summer internship at the Château, she completed a spring practicum at the Galerie Documents in Paris.
