Abdul Kareem Said Ramadan
Abdulkareem Said Ramadan is pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics with a specialization in Arabic as a Second Language at the University of Damascus, Syria. He earned an M.A. in Arabic Syntax and Morphology and a B.A. in Arabic Language at the University of Damascus. His current research interests include sociolinguistics, foreign language education, and Arabic classical literature. He is currently a Lecturer of Arabic at the University of Virginia. Abdulkareem has taught at the French Institute for the Middle East (IFEAD), the British Council, and the Arabic Department at the University of Damascus. He was a Coordinator of the Arabic program at the Arabic Language Center at the University of Damascus (2003-2004) where he taught Arabic as a Second Language (1998-2004). In 2004 he attended the ACTFL-sponsored Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) workshop. Currently he is working on the publication of his book, Abjad Hawaz, for teaching beginning Arabic.
