Regina Santos is from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Luso-Brazilian Literatures from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also taught Portuguese for business purposes at the Kenan-Flagler Business School. After graduating from UNC, she started the Portuguese Program at UNC-Greensboro, and she also taught at Duke University. Her research interests include Brazilian Modernism, investigations into the works of Brazilian writers Machado de Assis, Clarice Lispector, and Carlos Drummond de Andrade, as well as the works of Portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa. In addition, she is also interested in discussions on national identity and Brazilian popular culture. She is currently teaching at Stanford University as a Lecturer of Portuguese. During her free time, she enjoys tap dancing and going to the movies. Regina has taught at the Portuguese School since its foundation, in 2003. This summer she will be teaching Portuguese Level 2, and a module on Brazilian Culture and Civilization. Regina is the Assistant Director of the Portuguese School.
