Elena Shchepina: Ph.D., Associate Professor, Director of the Russian Language Program for Non-Russian Students, Smolny College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, St. Petersburg State University.

I received my undergraduate degree from the department of Russian language and literature at Herzen State Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg, and my graduate degree (kandidatskaya, equivalent of an American Ph.D.) from the Russian language department there. My dissertation was on Russian lexicology and lexicography. I have taught Russian to foreigners in Russia and the United States for many years. I love working with enthusiastic students who share my love for every word of the Russian language. In my rare free time I try to read and watch television programs, in order to find interesting material for my students.
