Shannon Donnally Spasova - I am from Ohio and received my B.A. from Oberlin College in Russian. Then I moved to Madison, Wisconsin to attend graduate school in Slavic Languages at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I spent several years teaching Russian language and Russian literature in translation there, as well as working on the RAILS project (Russian Advanced Interactive Listening Series), developing curriculum that aims to help students achieve advanced-level listening comprehension in Russian. I also worked for one year at Learning Support Services, helping teachers use technology in their classes. I defended my dissertation (on insects in twentieth-century Russian literature, creepy!) in 2007 and now teach Russian language and literature at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. When not working, I like to surf the web, play online games, and play handbells and the balalaika (but I'm not very good at the balalaika).
