Augustus J. “Augie” Machine, a graduate of the Defense Language Institute in Monterrey California, holds bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy and Spanish, and a master’s degree in Spanish Literature from the University of Iowa. He currently teaches language courses at the University of Puget Sound as well as the University of Washington, Tacoma. He has spent the past three summers in Cuernavaca, Mexico as the UWT program coordinator for the study abroad program there. A student, admirer, and devotee of the Spanish language for over 20 years, he is very excited to share his experience with the students of Middlebury this summer.
