Manuel González de la Aleja Barberán
Manuel González de la Aleja Barberán, from Spain, earned his Ph.D. at the Universidad de Salamanca. He is currently a professor of American Literature and Culture and Spanish language in the University of Salamanca. Dr. González de la Aleja has taught Spanish language, culture and cinema in a variety of study abroad programs and in classes for professors specializing in Spanish as second language. He has been Academic Coordinator of the Penn State University, Georgetown University and Wake Forest University programs at the University of Salamanca. He has published books on American authors such as Truman Capote, Norman Mailer and Raymond Chandler and he has translated into Spanish several horror short stories by Herman Melville, Edgar Allan Poe, H. P. Lovecraft, Bram Stoker, Algernon Blackwood, Ambrose Bierce, etc. He most recent book is a study on the presence and role of American volunteers during the Spanish Civil War.
