José (Pepo) Delgado-Costa
José (Pepo) Delgado-Costa , is not as tall as his name is long. He teaches Spanish American culture, narrative and theater at Ohio University. A native boricua, Pepo has resided in the US since 1977. Both his BA and MA are from Indiana University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. His areas of interest are the Southern Cone and Puerto Rico. His book of short stories, De locuras, familia y sexo, was published in 1996 by Isla Negra Editores in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Edwin Mellen Press, in New York, recently published Delgado-Costa’s Binarración y parodia en las tres primeras novelas de Osvaldo Soriano. Delgado has published articles in journals such as Centro Journal, El duende, Aleph, Revista Iberoamericana, and Noticias. He has also participated in international conferences dealing with contemporary Argentinean, Puerto Rican, and American literatures. In addition to directing the annual Coloquio primaveral, he founded and currently directs La Caterva, a university theater group currently in its ninth season. His play dealing with Puerto Rican history, entitled Muy leal, was performed in 2002 in Arecibo under the direction of Horacio Serrano, and had its U.S. debut in summer 2007 at the Spanish School.
