Nalei Guzmán, from Mexico City, received her B.A from the University of California, Riverside, where she worked as a peer counselor mentoring undergraduate students with academic as well as personal problems, and taught workshops on time management, stress, writing, and university life. She completed her M.A. in Spanish literature at the University of California, Irvine. She has taught a variety of Spanish language courses that have a mixed repertory including grammar, writing, short stories, culture, and film. She is currently a PhD student at the same institution, specializing in Contemporary Latin American Literature. She is interested in issues concerning identity, diaspora, and migration as well as the subaltern focusing on the representation of women.
