Samuel G. Saldívar, from Oxford, Ohio, is originally from Mexico. He earned his B.A. in Spanish and French and his M.A. in foreign languages pedagogy from Florida State University. His Ph.D. in Latin American literature is from New York University. He is Professor Emeritus, United States Military Academy, West Point New York. Presently, he is Adjunct Professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Miami University of Ohio. At West Point for forty-one years, he taught Spanish and Latin American literature and culture, and was the Director of Instruction in the Department of Foreign Languages. He has taught for twenty-one summers in the Spanish School at Middlebury College.
