Sonya Wohletz, born and raised in Northern New Mexico, has an enduring passion for dramatic landscapes as well as a deep appreciation for the Spanish language. During her year abroad in Argentina and Chile as an undergraduate, she learned to appreciate the importance of cultural heritage and the role that the visual arts play in our understanding of history, gender, spirituality, and identity. She has incorporated this passion for visual and linguistic aesthetics into her studies at the University of Oregon, where she will graduate in June, 2009, with degrees in both Art History and Spanish. Sonya is excited about the opportunity to participate in the Middlebury Language School this summer, where she hopes to meet many new friends.
