Celebrating 100 Years of Language Learning

The Language School’s Centennial took place this summer, and the college held a two-day conference that drew scholars and educators to explore the effects of globalization on local identity, economics, and language learning. Centennial Celebration Showcases Jazz Singer Stacey Kent

The celebration included a performance by Grammy-nominated jazz singer Stacey Kent, who has attended the Italian and German Schools and is currently affiliated with the Portuguese School. She performed at the Mahaney Center for the Arts, singing in Portuguese, English, and French. Read more.

School of Korean off to a Fast Start

In June, Middlebury’s 11th summer language school, the School of Korean, opened on the Mills College campus in Oakland California. Twenty-eight students were selected from a field of 80 applicants for the eight-week immersion in Korean language and culture. Read more.
