Evie Munier, PhD is a Visiting Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies at Middlebury College. Before joining Middlebury, she taught French and Gender Studies at Saint Mary’s College of Maryland. She holds a Master (2018) and PhD (July 2023) in French from Indiana University in addition to a Master Mondes Anglophones from the Université de Lorraine (2015).

Her research focuses on the intersectional identities and performative qualities of female bodies in contemporary French cinema (2000-2020), and most specifically, in contemporary banlieue cinema. Her pluri-disciplinal approach draws from gender studies, post-colonial studies, as well as film and media studies to inform her work on representations of gender, class, race, religion and sexuality in contemporary French cinema. Her research contributes to the ongoing scholarly and cultural dialogue on intersectional identities and identity politics in France.
