Locking your workstation and mobile devices and protecting them from theft are important components of information security.

Leaving your devices unlocked surrenders access to anyone who happens by. Your personal information,  your work, any sensitive data you access are all at risk. Protect your devices from unauthorized access with a password or passcode. This helps ensure that no one can access the information on your phone, tablet, or computer without your permission.

If you step away from your device, be sure to lock it. Set your devices to require a password or passcode after a certain time idle in case you forget.

You should also protect your device from theft. Don’t leave mobile devices unattended, and be sure to lock your office or dorm room. Consider using a laptop lock if you’re working in a library or temporary office.
