This week, two rising juniors from the University of Arkansas, Gretchen Bode and Sean Wiegers, embark on a transformative journey at our Arabic School in Bennington, Vermont.
When Naomi Zipurski decided to pursue her dream of becoming a rabbi, she quickly learned she’d need to build her Hebrew language skills to tackle the work ahead. After consulting with trusted advisors, she enrolled in our School of Hebrew.

Margaret Sullivan, an alumna of our Betty Ashbury Jones MA ‘86 School of French MA program (2004), published a book: “Following the Sun: Tales (and Fails) From a Year Around the World With Our Kids,” about her family’s 2019 gap year. She has relied on the gift of her Middlebury French for two decades now, and credits the program with giving her the confidence to see the world this way.
The C.V. Starr Professor of Russian and East European Studies will start in September as director of the Kathryn Wasserman Davis School of Russian.

At our Betty Ashbury Jones MA ‘86 School of French, Marian “Ify” Okpali gained the confidence and language proficiency she needs to pursue long-term field work studying the political communication and engagement of African youth in Senegal, Nigeria, and Morocco.
