To secure your place, you must submit a $400 non-refundable deposit.

Enrollments are processed on a rolling basis until the program is full. Once a program has filled, accepted students will no longer be able to submit a deposit.

• Click “View Your Decision”
• Click “Reply to Offer” (bottom right corner)
• Click “Accept Offer”
• The next screen will ask you to confirm your intent to enroll and ask for an electronic signature.
• Select the method you will use to pay.
• Submit

VISA INFORMATION

Non-U.S. citizens who are not U.S. legal permanent residents enrolling in the Middlebury Language Schools must have a non-immigrant visa status which allows them to enroll in courses full-time.  Tourist status (B-1/B-2 or WB/WT-ESTA) does not allow full-time study.

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) at Middlebury assists students with obtaining non-immigrant visa status to attend the Language Schools. ISSS reaches out via email to all admitted and deposited students who are marked as non-U.S. citizens or non-U.S. permanent residents in our system in March. ISSS will determine if visa support services will be needed and give specific instructions on how to obtain the appropriate support at that time.

Most international students attending the Language Schools do so in F-1 (student) status. To be eligible for F-1 status, you first must obtain an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility form from Middlebury. Information about how to get the I-20 form is provided in an email from ISSS. Please be aware that it can take several weeks to obtain an F-1 visa, and ISSS will not reach out to you to initiate the visa support services until your non-refundable enrollment deposit has been received.  Therefore, we encourage you to submit the enrollment deposit as soon as possible and, after ISSS sends the initial email for visa support services to you, to respond as instructed as soon as possible in order to allow ample time for the entire visa application process.  (Note: If the I-20 application is received by ISSS after May 1, there may not be adequate time to obtain the proper visa for entry to the United States.)

International students already in the U.S. should respond to ISSS’s initial outreach email as instructed to receive more information and confirmation about whether they can use their status for study in the Language Schools.

Orientation: As part of our orientation process, all students who require a visa to attend our program must bring their passport and visa documentation to the first day of class. A member of our team will conduct a brief verification of your paperwork to ensure compliance with immigration requirements.

The co-curricular programs of each school are an integral part of the Language Schools’ immersive learning experience, designed to help you build new vocabulary while developing cultural fluency. These activities include, but are not limited to, lectures, films, music, cooking clubs, yoga, theater and choir clubs, soccer, volleyball, tennis, bocce, dance, hiking and bicycling outings, and field trips. Risk of personal injury is inherent in some of these activities. While students are expected to participate in the co-curricular programs of their school, participation in any specific activity is voluntary.  By participating, each student affirms that they are solely responsible for assessing the skills and abilities to participate safely in any activity. They also affirm that they have adequate health insurance to pay for any medical costs incurred as a result of their voluntary participation.

Summer 2025 billing notifications will be emailed via Nelnet Campus Commerce in early April. Payment is due by June 1*.  If accepted for admission after June 1st, your payment will be due upon receipt. All Language School students with an outstanding student account due to Middlebury College will not be able to re-enroll until the balance has been resolved. Payment information can be found on the Payment Options page of the Student Financial Services website, including “Payment from Third-Party Payers.”

Note: You must activate your Middlebury network account before logging into Nelnet to view your billing information and make online payments. (see next step).

Billing, payments, and refunds are processed through the Nelnet Campus Commerce platform. Students must activate their Middlebury account and use their Middlebury username and password to access this system. Any refunds resulting from over payment will be issued via direct deposit (US bank account) or wire transfer (international bank account). Students can enroll in direct deposit in Nelnet for a US bank account, or should contact the Student Financial Services office to provide international bank account information for wire transfers.

Information about setting up your Middlebury network (MNET) account will be sent to you after April 1. This account is used for several Middlebury processes such as email, wireless access, and accessing your billing and payment information. All Language Schools communications during the summer are sent only to Middlebury email accounts. This includes links to training you will need to complete prior to arrival, correspondence with instructors, your tuition ebill, and information for online evaluations at the end of the program.

Middlebury College uses BannerWeb, a secure program for students to view their academic records and financial aid information, and Nelnet to view your student account transactions, make payments, and enroll in direct deposit for receiving refunds. You will be able to access BannerWeb and Nelnet after April 1 using the username and password you set up for your Middlebury network account.

We require all students to have health insurance. If you have health insurance, please bring proof of insurance to campus. If you need to buy health insurance, please visit our health insurance guide.

Enter your emergency contact information, cell phone number, missing person contact, and evacuation plan into BannerWeb. Note: You must activate your Middlebury network account before completing this task. (See Step 7)

Evacuation Plan – All students are required to submit a personal evacuation plan online in BannerWeb.  In the unlikely event of an emergency, the plan describes where you would go if the college had to be evacuated.  To submit a plan, log on to BannerWeb, choose “personal information,” and then “Personal Evacuation Plan.”

Missing Person Contact – Students may designate a confidential contact person in the event they go missing. This person can be anyone and does not need to be the same as the student’s emergency contact(s). BannerWeb maintains the contact person’s information in a confidential area, separate from the student’s emergency contact information. The information will be accessible only to authorized campus officials and may not be disclosed, except to law enforcement personnel in furtherance of a missing person investigation. If a student is missing, authorized campus officials and law enforcement officers will have access to this designated contact and will communicate with the person no later than 24 hours from the initial report.
