Getting Here

Driving

From San Francisco

Take US 101 South to CA 156 West, heading toward the Monterey Peninsula. Merge onto CA 1 South. Stay on CA 1 South until you reach the Monterey exit. Take this exit to our campus in downtown Monterey.

From Los Angeles

Take US 101 North and remain on the highway until you reach the Salinas area, when you’ll take CA 68 West/CA 1 South toward Monterey. Take the Monterey exit to our campus in downtown Monterey.

By Air

Monterey Airport (MRY)

Fly directly into the Monterey Airport, which is less than 5 miles (8 kilometers) from campus. There are daily flights from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Diego.

San Jose Airport (SJC)

Fly into San Jose Airport, located in Silicon Valley, and take the Monterey Airbus for $40 to downtown Monterey, which is a block from campus. The San Jose Airport is approximately 75 miles (120 kilometers) from Monterey.

San Francisco Airport (SFO)

Fly into San Francisco Airport and take the Monterey Airbus for $50 to downtown Monterey, which is a block from campus. The San Francisco Airport is approximately 110 miles (180 kilometers) from Monterey.

Getting Around Monterey

From the airport, taxicabs meet every flight and will deliver you and your baggage to the Institute or to your hotel for approximately $20, including tip. There are several car rental services at the Monterey Airport, and you can pick up your rental car minutes after your flight arrives. You can take Monterey-Salinas Transit (Bus 13) from the airport to downtown Monterey for only $1.50. Please check the bus schedule for more details. The Monterey-Salinas Transit buses also provide access to the major tourist destinations, shopping centers, and restaurants throughout the Monterey Peninsula.

Parking

When arriving on campus, please park in the metered parking lot on Pierce Street. Please note that you will need to bring quarters.
