Glendon Ingalls

Glendon Ingalls is a multi-instrumentalist (trumpet, electric and string basses, sousaphone) who has held band directing positions in Vermont schools in the Windsor N.W.S.U. Barre Town School, Spaulding High School (Director of Jazz Studies) and in Rutland Town Schools. He has served as an instructor and conductor at camps including Jazz Vermont, the Vermont Summer Jazz Camp, and the Rutland Town School Friends of Music Summer Jazz Camp (founder and director). He has been invited to be and served as guest conductor and clinician at a wide variety of festivals and conferences in northern New England and New York State for groups under the auspices of state music educator associations. Mr. Ingalls is also a two-time past president of the Vermont Jazz Educator’s Association. Collegiate appointments have been trumpet and brass methods instructor at Johnson State College, and trumpet and bass associated artist/instructor at Middlebury College. He has extensive recording, teaching, and performing experience with a wide variety of artists in pop and jazz music fields and performs regularly in the northeastern U.S. In 2001 he was invited to perform in Yaroslavl Russia at their international jazz festival. He is fluent as a trumpet player in a wide variety of styles, and enjoys teaching improvisation, jazz, and funk styles, as well as classical literature and technique. Glendon has a busy teaching and performance schedule on string basses in a wide variety of settings and is an early jazz specialist on the sousaphone. Post-graduation from the University of Vermont he has studied privately including with teachers Charles Schleuter (former principal trumpet in the Boston Symphony Orchestra), and Louis Kosma (bassist Metropolitan Opera). In addition to teaching at the above listed institutions, he maintains a private teaching studio in Rutland Vermont (Ingalls Music Studio).
