Master of Arts in Japanese Language and Culture

All Master of Arts in Japanese Language and Culture students must successfully complete an initial 6-week graduate summer session on the Vermont campus before establishing their candidacy for the MA degree with a second and third semester online followed by a final summer in Vermont and final online summer.

*Tuition ($7,875) and on-campus housing/food ($3,810) are included in the total bill. Cost of attendance does not include transportation, books and supplies, health insurance, and personal living expenses. Students are required to live on campus and have meals together in dining halls, organized by language.

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) with Licensure

MAT students spend a summer at the Language Schools, an academic year online, a second summer at the Language Schools, and a final teaching practicum in their preferred place of residence. Please see Dates and Fees.

Need-Based Financial Aid

Middlebury Language Schools may meet up to 100% of your demonstrated need. Our financial aid is awarded in the form of grants, not loans. This means that if you apply and qualify, you will attend the Master’s in Japanese at a reduced cost.

Applicants can apply for a merit-based scholarship. Thanks to the generous donation from Mayumi and Masao Oka, we have established TOBIRA scholarship for MA candidates.
