Middlebury College offers generous fellowships and scholarships and financial aid for our immersion students.

In order to apply for funding, you must first submit a Middlebury Language Schools application.

Fellowships and Scholarships application: After you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email with the subject “Middlebury Application & Merit Scholarship Links” that contains the links to merit-based fellowships and scholarships.

Financial Aid application: Within a few days of submitting your application, you will receive a second email with the subject “Middlebury Financial Aid Information” that includes instructions for applying to need-based financial aid from Net Partner, Middlebury’s Student Financial Aid Portal. Financial aid awarding will start in January 2024.

Fellowships and Scholarships

Middlebury offers a number of merit-based fellowships and scholarships. To be considered, you must be accepted by one of the Language Schools and meet all additional application requirements. However, you may submit your scholarship application before you receive an admission decision. Contact lsfellowships@middlebury.edu if you have any questions. The following are available:

Need-Based Financial Aid

Our need-based financial aid is awarded in the form of grants. This means that if you qualify, you will attend the Language Schools at a reduced cost. We are only able to offer partial need-based grants. You will typically be responsible for a significant portion of the cost to attend. You will also be responsible for travel to and from the program, books, and personal expenses.

Please note that need-based grant funds are limited and do run out. Aid awards are offered on a “first come, first served” basis. If you need financial aid to attend, you are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Please consult ‘Dates and Fees’ under Immersion or Graduate Program for your Language School of interest for the maximum need-based grant. You are responsible for paying the remaining cost. Consult Student Financial Services for additional information.

You must submit the deposit within two weeks of your award notification (if you have financial aid award) or your Middlebury financial aid will be subject to cancellation and offered to the next student or students in line.

Outside Funding
