Information for New Faculty

Middlebury is pleased to welcome 44 new faculty members for the 2021-22 academic year.

A comprehensive repository of information designed to help new colleagues get started at Middlebury will be updated for the 2022-23 academic year and made available soon.

But first things first. Now that you've signed the contract ...

You will be receiving mail from several offices at Middlebury; please keep the dean of the faculty's office notified of any address changes. You will also be receiving emails from several offices at Middlebury containing onboarding instructions and tasks. Please monitor your messages for this important information.

Once you arrive on campus ...

  • Make an appointment with Human Resources to sign employment papers, if you have not already done so.
  • If you have completed the onboarding tasks related to your ID and parking and after two working days and completion of your I-9 and W-4 forms, you can go to the Office of Public Safety to obtain your ID and register your vehicle.
  • Set up your office (late August). Should you need extra furniture, call Thad Stowe (802.443.5457).
  • Instructions for ordering a computer will be provided soon. If your computer has problems, call the Computing Helpdesk (802.443.2200).
  • Mark your calendar. Classes begin Monday, September 12th.
  • Attend orientation sessions. (A schedule will be sent to you.)
  • Relax and enjoy summer in Vermont!

We recognize that many new faculty have small children. There are several options for childcare in the Middlebury area. Be aware that there may be a wait for slots. It is advisable to call early. Additional resources for new faculty and their partners or spouses can be found here.

For other questions not covered here, contact Sujata Moorti, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty (802.443.5735).
