Accessibility Services
The following services are available at the Ceremony. Accessible resources are found at the program table in the lobby, just before entering Virtue Field House.
Accessible Seating
Guests may be seated behind the graduate seating area on the floor or in the bleachers. There are two platforms with several wheelchair seating positions at the top of the bleachers along the upper concourse of Virtue Field House. For those who prefer the seating area on the floor, ushers are available in the lobby to guide you to the elevator.
All guest seating is first come, first served.
Restrooms
There are accessible facilities in the lobby restrooms and in the smaller restrooms at the base of the bleacher stairs near the program table.
Audio Assistance
Assistive listening devices are available at the program table in the lobby.
Interpretation
American Sign Language (ASL) services are provided at the ceremony in Virtue Field House. Please ask an usher to direct you to the ASL seating area near the stage.
Large-Format Programs
Large-format programs are available at the program table in the lobby.
Parking
There are limited accessible parking spots in front of Pepin Gymnasium for guests with valid Department of Motor Vehicles disability parking placards or license plates.
When accessible parking is full, guests with mobility impairments may be dropped off at the main entrance. Vehicles must then park in the athletics complex parking area.
Service Animals
We follow Middlebury’s Service and Assistance Animals Policy. Service animals trained to work or perform tasks for people with disabilities are welcome at events.
Guests are encouraged to leave pets at home. Even the most well-behaved pet can become frightened and unpredictable in a crowded, noisy setting.
Accessibility FAQ's

While there are no accessible vans available for rent on campus itself, individuals can rent ADA vans from providers within an hour’s drive of campus. The Mobility Resource is one such resource in the Burlington, VT area (about 45 minutes north of campus).
Which local lodging accommodations that are easiest for attendees with mobility issues?
Two of the best and closest options for visitors with mobility issues are The Courtyard Middlebury by Marriott and The Middlebury Inn.
What area restaurants accommodate specific allergies or medical conditions?
A few options in town include Fire and Ice Restaurant, Rosie’s Restaurant, The Swift House Inn, Taste of India, Haymaker, and Tourterelle (New Haven, VT). All of these restaurants make their food to order and could likely take allergens and medical conditions into consideration. This is a suggestion list. Please make specific arrangements with each restaurant upon securing reservations.
