There are plenty of opportunities to find one’s niche at Middlebury, whether through student activities, student government, programs and events, or groups and affiliations.

Middlebury College Activities Board

The largest student programming body on campus, the Middlebury College Activities Board (MCAB) plans everything from concerts and film screenings to speakers and Winter Carnival. MCAB is always open to questions, comments, and suggestions. It’s also a great way for students to get involved in shaping social life on campus.

Student Organizations

Clubs, publications, cultural activities and events, student government, outings, religious and spiritual activities, and community engagement are great ways to get involved at Middlebury.

Club Sports

Club sports provide the opportunity for intercollegiate sports at Middlebury in a competitive and recreational structure. We rely on student leadership and strive for a healthy balance of academics and extracurriculars. Sailing, rowing, rugby, equestrian, Ultimate Frisbee, water polo, quidditch, badminton, tennis, Nordic skiing, running, and cycling teams are open to all students, and sign-ups often occur during the Activities Fair. For those considering rowing or rugby, please arrive at Midd with a recent (within the past six months) doctor’s exam to assist with requirements in the Office of Sports Medicine.

Community Council

The Community Council serves as a forum in which all segments of the College community have a voice on nonacademic issues on campus. With a membership that represents students, faculty, and staff, their deliberations and decisions consider the interests and concerns of the whole community.

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association (SGA) acts as a single unified group, representing students in the decision-making processes of the College. It is the official channel for student participation in formulating institutional policy affecting academic and student affairs. The SGA is made up of the senate (elected class representatives), the cabinet (appointed advisors), and the president (elected by the student body). The SGA also makes appointments to student, joint student/faculty, and trustee councils and committees.

The Middlebury Campus

The Middlebury Campus is the College’s official student newspaper. One hundred percent student run, the paper, also known as the Campus, is published most Thursdays during the academic year. The paper covers stories across six sections: News, Opinion, Local, Arts and Sciences, Sports, and Cartoons. The staff is composed of an editor in chief, managing editor(s), section editors, and staff writers, photographers, and cartoonists.

Student Employment on Campus

Securing a part-time job on campus allows students to acquire and hone certain workplace skills, knowledge, and abilities that can be the foundation for building a résumé.
