At the Nature Conservancy and La Brea Tar Pits in California
Alexis Mychajliw co-taught a conservation paleobiology field course with colleagues from The Nature Conservancy and La Brea Tar Pits in California in July 2025.
As part of the course, five Middlebury students contributed to research and management projects at the Randall Preserve including field surveys of woodrat middens, blue oaks, and asphalt seeps, all with the goal of using lessons from the past to guide conservation decision-making in the future.
This course was funded by the Conservation Paleobiology Network, an NSF RCN.
