Alivia

Ellie and Alivia attended a bird museum specimen preparation workshop in a University of Kansas dry lab led by the California Academy of Sciences. The workshop started with a brief introduction to avian anatomy and a walkthrough of important data to record when preparing a bird skeleton for museum collections. They took a muscle sample and a liver sample, and learned how to sex the bird. By the end of the workshop, they produced a bird skeleton that was ready for the next step in the skeletonizing process.
