Maya Slocum

Maya joined the Middlebury Admissions Office in 2024 on the heels of a year spent teaching English in Italy as a Fulbright Scholar. She feels proud to return to Admissions work at an institution that shares her value for global engagement. Maya earned a B.A. in English and Italian from Vassar College, and she deeply enjoys conversing about topics ranging from Virigina Woolf to traditional Sardinian cuisine. An ocean lover who grew up on the shores of Massachusetts, she spends her free time writing, dancing, hiking, and seeking out water in any form. Maya’s favorite part of her job involves meeting high school students where they are and guiding them towards more nuanced understandings of their college dreams. Discovering the joys of Vermont living has been the cherry on top of her transition to Middlebury.
