Guidance for Faculty
Being a member of the Middlebury College community means forging strong relationships with students.
Our shared daily work is focused on student growth and creating opportunities for rich learning experiences, which means that there will regularly be times when we become aware of student struggles or witness concerning behaviors. When this happens, it is important for faculty to leverage their relationships with students, listening skills, and institutional knowledge to make effective and precise referrals to support resources on campus. Student Affairs staff are glad to have faculty as partners in student success and well-being and invite faculty referrals and consultation.
In Case of Emergency
If you are concerned about the immediate health or safety of a student, or any member of our campus community, always dial 911.
If you believe that an individual on campus has committed or may commit an act of violence, is engaging in behavior or making statements that raise concern about the potential for violence, or otherwise poses a threat to the health or safety of any member of the Middlebury College community, calling 911 will activate campus and/or community resources to ensure safety.
The Care Form
The responsibility to support and care for one another is a core component of the Middlebury College community. The Care Form helps us provide guidance and assistance when students are facing challenges beyond the classroom. Find more information about Using the Care Form.
