Study Abroad in Kazakhstan

Students on our program can choose to study in the capital Astana or the southern city of Almaty.
This program is designed for students with intermediate-advanced proficiency in Russian who can adhere to the Middlebury Language Pledge® while studying abroad. The Pledge shows a commitment to linguistic immersion and is the key to students’ successful language development and cultural integration.
Almaty
The southern city of Almaty is known for its art scene, modern metro system, and proximity to nature, including skiable mountains and beautiful lakes. Once a site along the ancient Silk Road, today the over 2 million residents of the country’s largest city appreciate the unique blend of historical and cosmopolitan influence.
Astana
Famous for its infrastructure and architecture, Astana is a futuristic city on the banks of the Isham River. Taking inspiration from megacities such as Shanghai, Dubai, and Tokyo, the country’s government partnered with the best architects in the world to build a vibrant, clean, and safe city home to over one million people.
