I-Chiao Hung 洪亦喬

I-Chiao Hung is a native of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and the Director of Middlebury in Taiwan. She holds a Ph.D. in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from National Taiwan Normal University, an M.A. in Teaching Second Language from Utah State University, and a B.A. from National Taipei University of Education.

I-Chiao has taught Mandarin in Taiwan, the United States, and India, including at Middlebury College’s Chinese Language School. Her work spans Chinese language education, curriculum and program development, study abroad, and intercultural learning.

Her research interests include Chinese reading and literacy development, reading strategies, and Chinese language education. Her current professional interests include experiential and immersive learning, intercultural education, and Conflict Transformation in study abroad contexts.

Outside of work, I-Chiao enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her Taiwanese-Irish family in Kaohsiung.
